MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON DECEMBER 2, 2003
The meeting was called to order by Chairman J. R. Dowdy, Jr., with Commissioners James D. Harris, A. James Nance, Joyce C. Pheil and Ferrell Henry in attendance. Others present were County Administrator Gene Crapse, County Attorney Guy D. Pfeiffer, Finance Director Sherrie Leverett, Tax Commissioner Cricket Adkins, and secretary Linda Finch. Mr. Henry gave the invocation.
Administrator Crapse read the letter from the Board of Education recommending that Commissioners levy a tax of 18.165 mills for school operation and maintenance of the Crisp County School System for the year 2003-2004. He then read the 2003 Tax Levy Resolution setting the County Millage Rate in the incorporated areas at 11.848 mills, Unincorporated District Special Service Millage Rate at 1.542 mills, making the County Millage Rate in the unincorporated areas at 13.39 mills, and the State Millage Rate at .25 mills. He advised that the total millage rate for Crisp County, the State, and the Crisp County Board of Education is 30.263 mills in the incorporated areas and 31.805 mills in the unincorporated areas. Motion was made by Mr. Harris to adopt the 2003 Tax Levy Resolution for Crisp County, seconded by Mr. Nance and motion carried unanimously.
Motion was made by Mr. Harris to adopt the Contract for $749,000.00 for the new Georgia State Patrol Building to be built on Hwy. 300 South, seconded by Mrs. Pheil and motion carried unanimously.
Motion was made by Mr. Henry to adjourn meeting at 11:25 a.m., seconded by Mr. Nance and motion carried unanimously.
